LOUISE PARKER
Textile Artist
I live and work in a beautiful place: Norfolk. When I am not in my studio, the fields or on the beach I am dreaming up new ways to make.
I began my creative journey in books and with words. A doctorate and two children later I began to make jewellery and hair wear from the vast stash of vintage textiles and other fragments I collected on the way. After vintage I moved into flowers, specifically flower pounding or, in Japanese, tataki zone.
Since 2017 I have been building Flowerghosts. Five years of intensive research and experimentation has resulted in an Instagram following, a collection of original printed textiles and workshops which I run locally. I am a restless soul always looking for a new way to express myself, but the flowers I now grow in my own garden and print onto panels of white calico have fixed me as much as I fix them.
Louise was my first ever maker to take a punt on me and rtun workshops ans she has been her ever since! She runs wonderful workshops teaching how she creates her beautifiul Flower Ghosts.
