Join me and brand new maker, artist and inksmith Chrissie Nicholls, for the first in her series of fabulous creative workshops based on lettering and illustration. Date: Thursday 27th March Times: 10am- 4:30pm Cost: £135 Venue: Stonegate Farm, 12 Egmere Road, Walsingham. Norfolk. NR22 6BS MAPPING YOUR WORLD A map making workshop where we explore the history of maps, mapping elements, design, drawing and lettering to create your own personal map. Finishing by binding the maps with a Turkish Map fold into covers. You can bring an idea with you, in past workshops maps have been created of family holidays, family farms, family trees, favourite walks, well the list is endless, or we can discuss a plan for you on the day. Before the workshop you’ll be emailed with a list of reference material to bring with you. I have been running this workshop in various locations around the UK for over ten years and each map is a discovery both for the student and myself. You’ll be surprised just how addictive mapping can be and how much you’ll find yourself concentrating on the processes, while still having fun. I will also be bringing my own maps and a small selection of my own vast collection for maps to the workshop. All materials are provided, if you would like to bring your own drawing pens, pencils or watercolours please feel free to. We will be working on 160gsm paper so watercolours will need to be used quite dryly to avoid the paper buckling. You don’t need any experience in drawing or map making to join this workshop. This will be a long creative day but do not worry because, as well as your wonderful making, we will be indulging together in a delicious homemade two course lunch as well as copious amounts of cake and refreshments to keep you going.
