Workshop Details

So many of you asked for regular painting classes so Mary has put together a 5 week art exploration course to help you get you started or restarted on your creative journey. There will be the option to continue after 5 weeks. Dates: 5 x Fridays - 10th, 17th 24th & 31st January and 7th February Times: 10am - 12:30pm with coffee & cake; 10am- 1:30 on the last session with lunch (and coffee and cake!) Cost: £210 Venue: Wiveton Village Hall, The Street. Wiveton. Norfolk, NR25 7TH If you have been wanting to learn to paint or get back into painting then you are in the right place. Under Mary's patient and skilled guidance you will develop the confidence to get started and paint! Over the 5 sessions you will learn simple skills to create work including - Studio materials and artist specialty equipment - Setting up a basic colour palette, colour theory and mixing paint -Mark-making and sketching for painting -Different mediums including acrylics, gouache, inks & charcoal - Artistic principles like composition & perspective; line quality, and form to name a few Each session will begin with loose warm up exercises followed by painting. Some sessions will involve looking at the works of other artists to consider style and techniques. To get the most out of the class Mary encourages you to complete some exercises and activities between the sessions. Once the course is booked, you will have access to the detailed session outlines as well as some notes from Mary regarding a small amount of materials and where to buy them. You will be asked to bring a new A5 sketchbook and a few assorted drawing materials with you to the sessions to help give you the basic tools to set up an area of creativity in your home. Again we will send you suggestions of what to buy and where to get it. You may also like to bring your own apron. Mary Blue For those of you who are yet to meet Mary, you are in for a treat! Not only is she an exceptionally talented artist but she is also wonderful at encouraging, steering and gently guiding the reticent and self conscious and turning them into bold, brave painters! Mary Blue is a contemporary painter, originally from the USA and now living and working in North Norfolk. Her paintings, which start as sketches plein air, reflect upon the impermanence of life and the forces of nature.
